What stays on your Mac.
What leaves only when you ask.

Local app data
Your designs, display profiles, favorites, tasks, focus sessions, and settings are stored locally on your Mac. Notch Design does not require an account and does not upload this information.
System audio
Music visualizers use ScreenCaptureKit audio only after you grant permission. Audio is processed in memory to draw the visualizer. It is not recorded, transcribed, saved, or uploaded.
Updates and downloads
Download requests and Sparkle update checks contribute to aggregate request counts. We do not create cookies or persistent device identifiers, and we do not write IP addresses or user-agent strings to our application database or analytics dataset. Cloudflare necessarily processes network metadata to deliver and protect these endpoints under its own privacy practices. Our aggregate counts cannot identify a person or a unique installation.
Feedback
Nothing is sent until you press “Send feedback.” The message, category, app version, optional email address, and—only if you enable it—your macOS version are delivered to the Notch Design team. We do not attach screenshots, audio, settings, filenames, or a device identifier.
Feedback is delivered to the team through Discord, which stores it under its own privacy practices. To request deletion, use the in-app form or email hi@notchdesign.app, and include the receipt shown after submission.
Notch Dock features on your Mac
The camera mirror, Calendar, Reminders, Shelf, and focus timer work locally. The mirror shows video only on screen and never records or uploads it. Calendar and Reminders are read through macOS after you grant permission; reminders change only when you act. Shelf keeps references to the files you drop so it can show them again; files are not copied or uploaded.
The Playback widget talks to Music or Spotify on your Mac through macOS automation, after you allow it. For Spotify tracks, the app downloads the album artwork from Spotify’s image server to show it in the widget.
Optional Agent Usage widgets
The Claude Usage and Codex Usage widgets are off until you turn them on. When enabled, Claude Usage reads the sign-in token that Claude Code already stored on your Mac (in the macOS Keychain or Claude Code’s local settings) and uses it to request your usage limits from Anthropic. Codex Usage runs a bundled open-source helper (CodexBar) that uses your existing Codex sign-in and local logs to request usage from OpenAI. Notch Design does not store these tokens, transcripts, or the raw responses; the usage summary stays in memory.
Purchases and Pro licenses
Notch Design Pro is sold through Dodo Payments, the merchant of record. Your payment details, billing address, and email go directly to Dodo Payments and are handled under its privacy policy; Notch Design never sees your card details.
To activate Pro, the app sends your license key to Dodo Payments with a generic device label (“Notch Design on Mac”). It checks the key about once a week so refunds and transfers take effect, and works offline for up to 30 days between checks. When you open a Pro screen, the app asks notchdesign.app for the current price; Unlock Pro opens a checkout created through notchdesign.app with Dodo Payments. The license key and its activation ID are stored in your Mac’s Keychain. The app does not store your name or email from these checks.
Diagnostics and backups
Diagnostics and settings backups are created only when you choose their export buttons. They are saved to a location you select and are not uploaded automatically. Diagnostics exclude tasks, feedback text, email, filenames, wallpaper paths, audio, display identifiers, and preferences. A settings backup does include your task titles and chosen app settings, so review it before sharing.
Service provider
Cloudflare delivers the website, downloads, update feed, aggregate request counts, spam protection, and feedback relay. Dodo Payments processes purchases and Pro license checks. Anthropic and OpenAI receive requests only if you turn on the matching Agent Usage widget, and Spotify’s image server receives artwork requests for Spotify tracks. Product Hunt and other external links follow their own privacy practices when you choose to visit them.
Your choices
You can disable automatic update checks in the app, decline system-audio permission, omit your email, leave diagnostics off, or choose not to submit feedback. Core notch designs continue to work without submitting feedback.
